Fisher Price was founded in 1930 and now resides under the comforting wing of Mattel Toys Corporation.  They have created numerous learning toys geared for children of all ages.  One of Fisher Price’s most popular lines of toys included the Little People play sets. 
 
These sets come complete with characters and settings and are specifically designed to withstand the use (and abuse) of playful toddlers.  Perhaps one of the most beautifully crafted Little People sets, is the Fisher Price Nativity Set. 
 
As part of the Little People line of toys from Fisher Price, the Nativity Set includes easy to manipulate characters that are genuine to the sprit of Christmas.  Not only does the set include a stable, but it also has a lamb, a donkey, a camel, and a calf.  In addition to the animals, your child will enjoy The Angel, Joseph, Mary, Baby Jesus and the three wise men.  This nativity set, unlike the one you might set out during the holidays – is perfect for curious children and is very unlikely to break or come unglued due to mishandling. 
 
The Fisher Price Nativity set includes 12 figurines in total and is the only child designed nativity set that comes with a light.  When the angel character is placed on top of the star, not only does the star light up, but the song Away in a Manger begins to play.  This is a great learning tool that can help parents explain the meaning of Christmas to even a very young child. 
 
 Generally, Fisher Price does not carry this toy year round and it is normally only found in stores during the Holiday season.  However, since supplies are limited – you can be sure that it will sell out quickly.  Your best bet to find the toy is to shop online.  Before you buy a used set, make sure that the set is working properly and includes all of the pieces.  Most often, a brand new set will cost around $25, not including shipping and handling.  Since this is a seasonal item, Fisher Price does not normally put it on sale. 
Also, some of the earlier models of this set do not light up.  Look for the Fisher Price nativity set that includes the palm tree to decide if it lights up or not. 
 
Chances are that this will become a favorite play set for your children.  It is geared for children 18 months and older, but is pretty safe for younger children as well as long as they are supervised.
